WELCOME
Welcome and thank you for visiting my website. I am a lecturer in the Division of French and Italian Studies and the Department of Comparative Literature at the University of Washington.
I am a cultural historian focusing primarily on the visual culture of nineteenth and twentieth century France and its empire. My most recent work examines the 1931 Exposition Coloniale in Paris and organizer, Hubert Lyautey. My other interests include the history of technology and science; literature and its relationship to the other arts; architecture and urbanism; European modernism; American expatriate literature; intermedial texts..
